Why data centers are a property story
AI runs on computing power. That computing power sits in data centers, which need large buildings, dependable electricity, cooling, fiber connections, and access to trained workers. In other words: they need real estate.
Why local communities care
A data center can bring construction work, tax revenue, and related business activity. It can also raise real questions about power demand, water use, traffic, noise, and land use. Those questions are local even when the technology is global.
What this does not mean
It does not mean every warehouse will become a data center or every nearby home will jump in value. A site needs the right zoning, utilities, location, and business case. But it is worth watching because AI infrastructure is changing where companies want to build.
